The Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program (METP) is a collaboration between the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and Mississippi State University (MSU) to attract top-performing students to an innovative new teacher education program using one of the most valuable scholarships ever offered in the state coupled with invaluable experiences.

Our goal is to train new secondary English, mathematics, and science educators – as well as Elementary and Special Education teachers – for Mississippi. Each METP fellow makes a five-year commitment to teach in a Mississippi public school after graduation.

Both institutions will accept up to 30 fellows for the fall term.
